Philippe Herreweghe was awarded the Leipzig Bach Medal in 2010, the same year when the Collegium Vocale Gent, a choir he founded, celebrated their 40th anniversary. Among other things, the choir established their world fame with productions of Bach compositions. Presenting a translucently refined St John Passion in Budapest in 2007, Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent now bring the St Matthew Passion to the Spring Festival.
